Carpey Law Pandemic Initiative Helps Community Residents, Clients, Small Business Owners, and YOU

In May 2020, Carpey Law launched our Pandemic Initiative – a free 30-minute legal consultation related to COVID-19, and the response has been immense. Since then, we’ve been able to help members of our community, current client, past clients, small business owners, and more deal with a vast array of complications and issues they are facing as a result of the pandemic. We will continue to provide this free service to anyone who calls our firm in need of assistance. Some of the issues we can help with include:

  • Personal injury, accidents and claims.
  • Employment law. Job losses may give you access to worker’s compensation, short term disability, or long-term disability, for a whole host of reasons. Our firm can offer information and insight into the federal stimulus and financial aid laws recently signed into law by the President. You may be entitled to federal funds.
  • Avoiding scams during this period of difficulty. Scammers will try to take advantage of people that do not pay attention to their credit reports and credit card accounts.
  • Navigating the new 2019 tax deadlines.
  • Understanding laws pertaining to landlord-tenant disputes, particularly in light of the fact that evictions are now prohibited.
  • Applying for the Payroll Protection Program (PPP) and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL), also recently signed into law. Small business owners may also be entitled to business interruption insurance, if their insurance plan provides for the right type of coverage.
  • Understanding your rights during COVID-19.
  • Providing federal and state employment and financial resources due to COVID-19.
  • Providing health and public benefits
  • Explaining individual rights and court procedures regarding your case.
  • Discussing court emergency orders, closures, postponements, and updated procedures due to COVID-19.
  • Supplying various COVID-19 Resources for Pennsylvania

If you have questions relating to any of the above, you can check out our website www.Carpey Law.com for a wealth of information or call us at (610)834-6030 to speak with an attorney directly. If there are legal questions needed to be answered outside of our expertise, we can refer you to lawyers in the Carpey Law network.

Stuart Speaks At A Marketing Conference in Virginia

For those of you who regularly read The Carpey Chronicle, you know that Stuart is always looking for the next opportunity to give back to the community. In January 2020, Stuart was asked to speak at a marketing conference in Virginia on the subject of attorney marketing. Stuart focused his presentation on the importance of building a relationship with your community and guaranteeing excellent customer service in a world where customer service has become overly automated and impersonal. Many in the audience were quite receptive to Stuart’s approach, and for that reason, this was not your typical attorney marketing conference. All too often attorneys fall into the trap of implementing conventional, outdated and impersonal marketing and communication techniques. At Carpey Law, we recognize that that is not what the people want. Clients want and deserve to know their attorney, should be able to actually SPEAK to their attorney, and should feel and know that their case is being handled with the utmost care and attention. That’s what we do here at Carpey Law. We know our clients appreciate that, and that’s part of what Stuart spoke about.

Marple Newtown Junior Initiative Program

In October 2018, Stuart was asked to volunteer again at his alma mater, Marple Newtown High School, at the Junior Initiative Conference. Stuart was asked to give tips about owning a small business and how to decide on a profession or career. The Junior Initiative Coordinator had this to say to Stuart in an email after the conference:

“Hello Mr. Carpey,

I want to express my heartfelt thanks to you for volunteering your time, energy and expertise to Marple Newtown’s Junior Initiative Conference (23rd Anniversary!). The Speakers Conference is only successful because of your generous participation. The presentations form the basis of all of the follow-up activities of the Junior Initiative which include a job shadowing visit which the students arrange themselves based on their own personal interest and oral presentations they give in classes to their fellow juniors. Our juniors are genuinely interested in hearing from a you about your personal experiences in the world of work after high school. I’ve spoken to my junior students since the conference ended and they have universally made positive comments about your presentation; they are also often surprised at some of what you have to tell them about the effort and challenges of getting where you are. I hope you felt their interest and engagement during your sessions.

Each year I also hear from parents who tell me how their child came home from the conference and told them how ‘cool’ the presentations were! The experience of the conference is truly a window into the ‘real world’ of work for our students and it reinforces so much of what we in education are trying to do to prepare our young people for the many challenges and choices they have ahead of them as they create their own future successes.

Again I offer a very sincere THANK YOU on behalf of the Marple Newtown Junior Initiative program. I hope you will join us again next Fall for our 24th year!

Gratefully,

Dennis Andrews

Junior Initiative Coordinator
